I can’t think of a better day to launch this website. 25 years ago to the day I sat down to write the play Hamlet. I remember every detail about that morning, from the weather outside (sunny) to the clothes I was wearing (none). I was still reeling from the success of my latest film, Schindler’s List, a blockbuster sensation that had cemented my reputation as “a real card” in the industry. I knew the public was clamoring for another hit, so I opened the notes app on my iPhone and got to work. Half an hour later I was printing off the first draft of Hamlet and scribbling a quick note to my agent on the front page: “Is this anything?” (I was being cute. Of course it was something. It was a play). The adventure had begun. The rest, as they say, is hamstory.
